Speed Test Workout

We move to the summer start times on Monday/Wednesday this week: 7:00 PM.

Our track workout on Monday (at 7:00 PM) will be a Race Against Yourself and will start/finish from: Thomas Park (corner of Francis and Puryear Dr.). 

What kind of race is this?

A race of muscle memory; not one based on how fast you can run. Instead, this race will test your ability to predict how fast you can run a 5K (3.1 miles) WITHOUT the aid of a GPS watch or any other electronic.

Goal:

Predict your finish time—WITHOUT your watch. The purpose of this workout is to practice listening to your body and learn how to feel your pace without the need of a watch. The idea behind this is to help fine-tune your speed and effort throughout a race so that you can perform to the maximum of your potential without falling apart by the last mile.

Rules:

  1. Be safe and obey the rules of the road. Look both ways when crossing any road intersection to ensure the road is clear of traffic.
  2. Follow the designated route.
  3. Watches are allowed but must be placed in CLOCK Mode only without any metrics of pace/time visible.
