On Wednesday (Harvey Washbangers at 7:00 PM), we will have our third race (this is a make-up from last week's cancellation.) We will warm-up with a jog up to the NW corner of George Bush and TX. The race will be mostly through campus, returning via Dexter and Park Place (as we do w/the Paddle routes). Course information is below. Your task will be to, once again, predict your finish time. Note: You will need to factor in a few minutes for the traffic light at George Bush and the stop on Anderson (BE SAFE!).
Again, your goal will be to predict your finish time—minus your watch. [If you are addicted to Garmin Connect or Strava, and feel compelled to wear a watch, please put it in a mode that does not display your pace/time (or cover the face).] We will bring a spreadsheet for you to record your predicted time before the race. The course was selected to minimize traffic hazards. You will, though, be crossing a number of 4-way stops. Please use caution at the stops and, as always, run on the left side of the road.
Note: Your time for this should be > 30 minutes, so if you're a faster runner, please choose the longer course (i.e. an extra lap of the golf course) to be eligible for prizes.
It'll be hot out there - remember to account for any water breaks you might want to take (we'll have 1 water jug out on the loop), as well as a safe crossing of George Bush on your way back to Harvey Washbangers. The finish line will be at the HW patio.
Here's where you can submit your estimated time:
The 6.5 Mile option:
On the maps- you'll see some icons (which are hyperlinks to more info):
The "Faucet" is an outdoor water fountain
The "Water Jug" is a (possible) BRC water jug location (the Starter will announce actual jug(s) location)
The "Star" is a location with indoor restroom and water
Workouts are rain or shine, however, we will cancel in the event of lightning.
