Anna Casto

Hi! I'm Anna Casto, and I have been a BRC member for about 2 years. I love training and racing, but my favorite part of running is the runners. BRC is such an amazing group of people, which is why I was motivated to run for a board position last year. I served as the BRC Board's secretary in 2017-2018. This year I am running for the position of president. My hope is that BRC will continue to be a place where members find great friends and support for their running and fitness goals, whatever those may be. It would be an honor to serve as your BRC president.

                                                                              Vice President

Jim Grau

It has been a privilege to serve as the Vice President (VP) of the Boat of Fools. As VP, I have helped to structure our training plans and track workouts, recruited our Skippers to assist in training, and served as a link to our sister club in Austin (the Ship). My focus is on marathons (23) and my hope is to help others conquer this distance, whether it is their first race or a shot at Boston.

                                                                                  Secretary

Anna Gitter

This club is dear to my heart and I consider it my second family. I have decided to run for Secretary to show my appreciation and become more involved with this community. Skills that I would bring to this position include organization, detailed note-taking and time management. Recently, I was a buyer for Fairhaven Runners and Walkers (a running store in Bellingham, WA), and assisted with coordinating events and developing a supportive running and walking community. I am PhD student as well and have experience balancing multiple tasks, projects and time-constraints, yet still making time for my runs. I currently work at Brazos Running Company (again) and would love to strengthen our relationship with our local running store. I strongly believe the reason this club has been so successful is because of the friendliness and passion of our members, as well as the support of our Board. I have always been an outgoing member, but I am ready to take on that next role as a board member.

                                                                                 Treasurer

Kristi Holstead

Howdy! My name is Kristi Holstead and I am running for BRC Treasurer. I started running with BRC in July 2016. I love all the people I have met and the friendships that I have formed here. I appreciate what the club is doing and would like an opportunity to give a little appreciation back by serving as treasurer. I have an extensive accounting/bookkeeping background and a huge geeky-love for numbers in general. I *may* have a spreadsheet for keeping track of all my miles.

I’ve only been a “runner” for the last few years. I’m grateful that I found this group of encouraging “fools”. My speed and distance have improved way beyond anything I could have done on my own. Having a friendly group to run with (that make sure I actually show up) are the biggest reason for that. My qualifications for the position of IT Director are more credible than my running chops. I have been an IT Professional for over 25 years. I’ve got a weakness for gadgets and “info” that might improve my speed/distance/form or just help me “not get lost”. I might be lacking some experience in social networking - but I’ve got plenty of younger friends who can help me get the club’s info out to the “internets” on “book-face” and other sites that we use to spread the word, the routes, and the lies that running is somehow “fun”.

Matthew Garrett

Will run for BEER...or Food :-) Howdy! My name is Matthew Garrett. I am a 26-year-old Graphic Designer at C.C. Creations Production Facility in Bryan, TX. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Visualization and a double minor in Business and Art History. Aside from my true passion of graphics (and collecting socks); I LOVE to workout...it has become kind of an obsession now. Future Ironman in Training always looking to conquer my next race or personal goal! Pool and poker are two other hobbies of mine and if I am not doing one of them, you'll probably catch me drinking (or sleeping - that is my all time favorite thing to do). I am friendly, driven, and well spoken and out-going and would like nothing more to be on the council for the Boat! I have been a member since the wee months of the club and this crazy fool is ready to put his face on the map! Prost!!

BRC has made my life better, and I want to help make BRC better.

I want to play a more active role in the brazos runners club because I want to give something back to the group that brings me such great joy. I love my fools.

Bradley Bogdan

I've been a proud member of The Boat since 2016, roped in by my lovely wife Alyson. Running since 8th grade, the sport has been a passion for me for more than half my life, from the baby steps of being a newbie and occasional runner, to racing competitively in college and grad school, and now to finding a group of fools who continue to help each other grow, get fitter and smile constantly through running.

Racing is something I feel very strongly about, and is an aspect of our sport that separates us from many other healthy activities for adults to pursue. Few other sports give you the opportunity to test yourself against very objective criteria just about anywhere on earth. A mile is a mile, and stopwatches don't lie. Generally the more work you put in, the faster you go. I would love to stay on the board to help us put together a race we can call our own, allowing the members a chance to race, the community a chance to support us in a new way, and providing us with an event where we can give back to the community as well.

                                                                                                    Member-At-Large (2)

Patrick Redmill

Hi there! I'm Patrick Redmill, and I am running for one of BRC's two open "Member-at-Large" positions. I have been on BRC's board for all three years of the club's existence; first as the Director of Information Services, then a 2-year stint as Treasurer. I am celebrating my 20th year as a runner, and my 10th year as a part of the BCS running community.

My wife and I just had our first baby, so I am looking to transition into a more hands-off role with the club that better fits my ability to serve. Furthermore, club leadership has always desired to have new people and ideas on board; and I am decidedly not new. I'd like to take a bit of a step back and give new leadership (which we will have a lot of this year) the space to let their ideas flourish. I do desire to serve in this position, as I believe that I may be able to provide some advisory assistance, based upon past board experience, to new leadership. Also, BRC has big things planned for year 4, so I think as many hands on deck will be a good thing.

If you like that vision of leadership for the 2018/2019 BRC board, I would really appreciate your vote. If not, I'll enjoy the year off. Thanks either way!

Ian Muise

My name is Ian Muise and I am running for one of the BRC board member-at-large positions. Although I have been running regularly for six years, I am a relative newcomer to BRC, running for the first time with the club last June. What was intended to be a one-time only attendance to celebrate National Running Day led to regular participation, mainly because I received such a warm welcome and made so many good friends. Now I would like to do my part to give back and carry on the excellent work of the club's current and past leadership, which along with its members have made BRC the best running club around. As a center director and manager at Texas A&M, I have served on and chaired various committees and have planned events, lectures, exhibits, and retreats. I will be able to serve a full term, as I have no plans to go anywhere in the next year, unless I happen to fall into a ravine or am eaten by an apex predator during a trail race, which is not entirely unlikely. Thank you for your vote!

Erin Giles

I've been an active member of BRC since moving to College Station 2 years ago. For those of you who attend track workouts, you often see me leading track workouts when Jim is absent, and I've worked with Jim and Brad behind the scenes to develop new workouts and implement the hill runs. For those of you who hate track, but love post-run beer, I also worked this year with Andy and Karbach brewery this year to initiate our quarterly Pub Runs. In the Member-At-Large position on the board, my goal would be to continue contributing to the club in a more formal capacity, and help bring new ideas forward as the club continues to grow.
